Adams, Inc. has been in the electrical contracting field since 1988. We now have seven locations between Wisconsin and Illinois and offer services not only in electrical, but plumbing, HVAC, Solar, and Home Backup Power solutions.

We are adding a General Manager to our team to oversee the sales and production functions of the Electrical Division. This role combines the leadership of the Estimating and Production Management teams, ensuring alignment with Adams values and strategies. The GM is responsible for driving revenue, ensuring operational excellence, and delivering high quality service across all electrical projects. This role requires a strong commitment to administrative precision, operational discipline, and team accountability. 

The pay range for this role is based on recent, relevant experience, and will be discussed prior to, or during your first interview. Qualifications: 
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in the electrical space is required. Proven experience managing multi-location field teams, or equivalent, is required. Proven experience in managing commercial and industrial electrical projects. Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams including estimators, project managers, and field technicians. 
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, construction management, or related field preferred. An equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree. 
  • Technical Skills: Strong financial and business acumen required; knowledge of field operations, job costing, margin control, and labor productivity required. 
  • Software Proficiency: Familiarity with project management software and standard business software required. Examples are Service Titan, Blue Beam, and Accubid. 
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with clients, team members, and stakeholders required. 
  • Problem Solving: Ability to anticipate challenges, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions under pressure required. 
  • Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills to motivate and guide teams through accountability and positive team culture required. 
  • Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and a willingness to travel to job sites is required. 
 
Physical Demands: 
This position is based in an office setting and involves standard computer and phone use. The role also requires travel to work sites and company locations across service areas to support field operations and engage with team members directly. The ability to sit, stand, and move between locations is necessary. 

Work Environment: 
The position involves a mix of office-based planning and work site visits. The employee will visit active construction or service sites, which may expose them to varying weather conditions, noise levels, and hazards typically associated with such work. Appropriate safety protocols and PPE must be followed at all times. Travel between job sites and client locations is expected, and occasional evening or weekend work may be required to meet project deadlines or respond to urgent issues.

  • Owns the customer and project life cycle from acquisition and qualification through estimating, handoff, execution, warranty, and post project customer satisfaction. 
  • Ensure quality control across all projects, including successful inspection outcomes 
  • Uphold ethical practices in estimating, contracting, and project execution 
  • Maintain detailed documentation and ensure compliance with internal processes and external regulations.  
People: 
  • Lead, manage, and hold accountable the Electrical Sales and Production teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement 
  • Conduct performance reviews, regular one on ones, perform progressive discipline as required, and host regular meetings with foremen and other field personnel to promptly address issues and concerns. 
  • Act as a stabilizing force for field leadership, providing clarity and support in high pressure situations while fostering resilience and ownership. 
Partnership: 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, developers, and trade partners 
  • Support the Sales/Estimating teams as needed to ensure success in achieving revenue targets 
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to align on project strategy and execution

  • Provide steady leadership in managing field teams and navigating job site challenges, ensuring consistent performance and minimizing disruptions in high pressure, fast paced, production environments. 
  • Ensure effective inventory control, mate rial readiness, and process documentation for all projects. 
Stewardship: 
  • Establish and maintain strong financial discipline in decision making and across operational processes. 
  • Ensure divisional compliance with licensing, permitting, and regulatory requirements across jurisdictions. 
  • Ensure all projects are completed on time, on budget, and to the Adams quality standards. 
  • Provide consistent updates and communication to stakeholders regarding project and team performance.
